​Do you want to feel more confident and competent using English, by learning from a British native who has a history of working with English at a high level? I’m here to help: I work online (via Google Meet, Zoom, Whatsapp video. etc) with adult learners (age 18+ at B2 intermediate to C2 proficient) to improve use and understanding of English, including vocabulary, pronunciation, and grammar. I have a standard British accent and I have been teaching English and Business English to non-native speakers worldwide since 2010.

• As an IELTS specialist, a huge number of students come to my lessons after they have tried but failed to achieve their required results in the IELTS exam. Often these students have been receiving low scores because they have been preparing for the exam in the wrong ways. I'll show you how to change how you think about the exam, to look more closely at how you have been preparing, and to work in a different way in order to obtain the results you need. So far, my IELTS teaching methods have helped more than 1,000 students around the world to reach their desired band scores (or higher!) in the exam. This equates to 85% of the IELTS students that I've worked with – so you can see that I know what I’m talking about!

• Improving your level of English isn't just about passing exams: I teach business and academic English, preparation for university / job applications and interviews, and how to improve public speaking and presentations. In addition, my expertise in writing a large number of books and magazine articles can help you to improve your writing, whether it be for business use, academic life or for pleasure.

• In addition... it might be that you are looking to move country – I’ve done this myself, having moved for my own university studies and employment in 3 countries (England, Ireland and now Spain), so I can offer advice and guidance if you are planning to emigrate for work, studies, or you are looking for a change of lifestyle elsewhere around the world. Throughout my career I have used English at a high level - and as I'm now living in Spain and learning Spanish I can understand the difficulties of gaining confidence in using a new language as an adult because I'm doing it myself. We can work together on building your ability to express yourself more naturally and more easily.

• I'm also happy to work with you on anything else that will help you to become more comfortable and confident in using this lovely language to build your conversational skills, including using typical English collocations, idioms and phrases. I really enjoy sharing knowledge and seeing (and hearing!) people's lives changing because they have gained a better understanding and use of English - I look forward to helping you to achieve your goals.

How our lessons will go:

I am a facilitator, helping students to find the best way to improve their English because every person has slightly different ways of learning. This means our lessons together will not be formulaic. I believe that learning English should be an organic experience: I don't create formal lesson plans - when we meet, I want you to tell me what you want to learn each time and we'll work on it! I have an enormous number of resources that I can share with you - documents, images, websites - which will be really useful in helping you to build your understanding and use of English.

Terms and conditions

1. Lessons are €20 for a 50-minute session, with a discount of €2 per session if you book a group of 5 lessons with one payment. 

2. All fees to be paid online at the time of booking, via Paypal which offers security for both of us (I will provide a link).

3. All fees include 21% IVA (this is the tax that I must pay on my earnings here in Spain).

4. Your name and any contact details will be held confidentially by me, solely for the purposes of maintaining a booking diary and accounting receipts.

5. Cancellation of a booking (by either you or me) should be made with at least 24 hours notice - a re-booking can then be offered.

6. Cancellation (by you) with less than 24 hours notice will be non-refundable for that session.

7. Please note that I do not do under-18, pairs or group sessions - sessions are bookable for one person age 18+ only.
